延遲３個多月，小英終於遵守承諾了！蔡英文總統520就任前，曾到高雄參加「區域翻轉，南方領航－南部發展戰略會議」，當時她表示，上任後3個月內要成立總統南部辦公室，全力推動南部再生。如今，蔡總統要兌現承諾，高雄市長陳菊8日上午指出，已提供了三個地點供總統府參考，待府方決定。
究竟總統南部辦公室要設置在哪裡？陳菊表示，目前提供了三個地點供總統府 參考，分別是鳳山行政中心內的一處大空間、愛河畔的舊衛生局與財稅大樓的獨立空間。但陳菊也說，最終選擇權仍在府方，她只是轉達地方期待的民意。
國民黨市議員陳粹鑾在總質詢時關心總統南部辦公室的設立地點，她說，最好選在高市府的鳳山行政中心內，以加持鳳山區的政經地位，盼府方趕快定案。
不過，倒也不是所有人都贊成這項政策的實行。前台南縣長蘇煥智在8月時就曾在臉書上提出質疑。他說，行政院已設有中丶南丶東辦公室，但也只是跑攤的功能，沒有實質的作用，如此只是增加競選功臣安置及下階段選舉佈局安排的位置，他認為沒有這個需要。（徐乙喬／綜合報導）
